# Our Receiving Process

> Discover how to send inventory to Jetpack effortlessly, from prep to storage, with tips to minimize delays and get your products order-ready fast.

<div className="page-intro">
  We know sending inventory can feel like a big step, but Jetpack is here to make it simple and stress-free. This guide walks you through the process, so you can get your products into our centers and ready for customers with minimal hassle.
</div>

If you're new, start by creating a [Warehouse Receiving Order (WRO)](/fulfillment/sending-inventory/creating-wro) in your Jetpack dashboard—it's the key to smooth processing.

## Understanding Hubs and Fulfillment Centers

To make sending inventory as efficient as possible, Jetpack uses a network of hubs and fulfillment centers (FCs):

* **Hubs**: Primary receiving locations where your shipments arrive for initial processing. We have strategically placed hubs to handle inbound inventory quickly.
* **Fulfillment Centers (FCs)**: Where inventory is stored, picked, packed, and shipped. Located around each hub, FCs ensure optimal distribution to reduce shipping times and costs.

When you send inventory, it's received at a hub and then distributed to FCs based on your needs—helping you reach customers faster. Use the dashboard to select locations when [creating your WRO](/fulfillment/sending-inventory/creating-wro) for the best setup.

<Tip title="Pro Tip">
  Split your inventory across multiple locations during WRO creation to optimize distribution and avoid over-reliance on a single center.

## Key Steps in the Receiving Process

**Once your shipment arrives at a hub, we follow these steps to get your inventory processed and moved to FCs:**

1. **Arrival and Unloading**: Shipments are unloaded promptly. Small parcels (under 50 lbs) via common carriers don't need appointments. Larger palletized or freight shipments require a [booked dock appointment](/fulfillment/sending-inventory/booking-dock-appointments) to avoid delays.

2. **Scanning and Identification**: We scan the WRO number on your labels. If everything matches, we proceed. Missing or mismatched details may place the shipment on hold as an [Unidentified Receiving Order (URO)](/fulfillment/sending-inventory/unidentified-on-hold-shipments-uros)—we'll notify you via email or dashboard to resolve quickly.

3. **Inspection and Counting**: Each box is opened, inspected for damage, and counted against your WRO. We verify SKUs, quantities, and conditions. Discrepancies (e.g., overages or shortages) are noted and adjusted in your inventory.

4. **Storage and Distribution**: Verified items are stored and distributed to FCs. You'll see the status update to "Received" in your dashboard, with inventory levels refreshed in real-time.

## Timelines and Expectations

We know timely receiving is crucial for your operations, so here's what to expect:

* **Average Timeline**: Most shipments are fully received and ready within around 2 business days of arrival.
* **Peak Periods**: During high-volume periods, it may take up to our official SLA of 4 business days. We advise building this into your replenishment schedules to avoid stockouts—your Jetpack Care team can collaborate via Slack to strategize optimal timing, ensuring no fulfillment center runs low. For more details, check out [Managing Replenishment Schedules](/fulfillment/managing-inventory/managing-replenishment-schedules).
* **Tracking**: Monitor progress in the Jetpack dashboard under Inventory > Receiving. Get email notifications for key updates.

If your shipment is on hold, resolve it quickly by linking a WRO or contacting support—unresolved UROs may be returned after 30 days.

<Warning title="Common Pitfall">
  Avoid mixing multiple SKUs in one box without noting it in your WRO, as this can lead to counting errors and delays.
</Warning>

<Accordion title="Packaging and Shipping Best Practices">
  To optimize the sending and receiving process:

  * **Packaging**: Use sturdy boxes or pallets; secure items to prevent damage. No loose or hazardous materials without pre-approval.
  * **Labeling**: Include the WRO number, your company name, and tracking info on all sides.
  * **Carriers**: We accept common services like USPS, UPS, FedEx, or freight. For pallets, book appointments via the dashboard.
  * **Volume Tips**: Split large shipments across centers for better distribution and faster fulfillment.
